Parent Psychotherapy

You Are Not Alone As A Parent

Have you begun to notice new behaviors in your child that you can’t manage and don’t understand? Has communication been more difficult lately, and you’re uncertain how to get through to them? Are you struggling to relate to your child, with even the simplest interactions leading to an argument? Do you have concerns about your child’s future and worry the choices they’re making won’t lead them to a happy future?

Being a parent requires you to fill many roles. You’re expected to provide guidance, while expanding your child’s independence; help your child accept failure and success equally, while also being their biggest cheerleader; and set firm boundaries and establish rules, while also providing unconditional and selfless love. We understand that your child and the issues your family is facing are unique, and finding the solutions to these problems may require out-of-the-box thinking. Being able to identify, communicate, and address these issues earlier with your child can make it easier to overcome these obstacles. You want what’s best for your child, but with your own expectations, navigating advice from others, and supporting your child’s independence, how to get there is not always clear.

Our therapists can help by collaborating with you to transform the dynamics in your home.

How We Can Help

At MCCM counseling, we know being a parent is one of the toughest jobs. All of our therapists have extensive experience guiding parents through a variety of issues, while also recognizing that each family has its own set of unique challenges. We also understand that the issue may go beyond the home, including problems at school or issues with their peers. Our therapists will always start by understanding how your family is structured, the way you like to parent, the shifts that have occurred, and the support you need to continue as a stronger family unit. We then work with you to create a realistic plan that takes into account your child’s unique issues and your family’s values. Our goal at MCCM Counseling is to help you get through to your child and help them forge a positive path forward.
